Welcome to the golden shores of Cabo, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez in a breathtaking display of natural beauty. Our coastline is home to diverse beaches, each offering its distinct charm and geological wonders. Whether you’re looking for exhilarating water sports at Medano Beach, a peaceful swim at Santa Maria Beach, or a thrilling surf at Acapulquito Beach, Cabo’s beaches promise unforgettable moments. Renowned for their exceptional environmental and water quality, our Blue Flag-certified beaches are true sanctuaries of nature. Discover Cabo’s pristine coastline, where sun, sea, and sand unite to craft an extraordinary paradise. Some beaches are marked with red flags, indicating they are unsafe for swimming due to strong waves, steep drop-offs, and dangerous undertows. We strongly recommend researching any beach on this page before planning your visit.

Medano Beach

Located in the heart of downtown, Medano Beach is the longest swimmable beach in Cabo, with many resorts offering direct access. This lively area, filled with resorts, bars, and restaurants, provides a classic beach resort vibe. You’ll find boats in the bay, swimmers enjoying the ocean, lifeguards on duty, and plenty of people relaxing or playing on the sand. Unlike many other beaches in Cabo, the waters here are safe for swimming, making it an ideal spot for beachgoers.

Lover's Beach

This beautiful swimmable beach is accessible only by boat, and the journey often includes a picturesque stop at the iconic Arch at Land’s End, as well as visits to fantastic snorkeling spots along the way. The boat ride is part of the adventure, offering breathtaking views of Cabo’s coastline. Once you arrive, you’ll find ample opportunities to swim and relax in the serene beauty of the beach. Remember, disembarking at Lover’s Beach depends on the tide conditions and may not always be possible.

Chileno Beach

Chileno Beach, situated near the hotel zone and a luxury resort, is a beloved public beach popular with locals. Although it may not have as many conveniences as Medano Beach, it still offers essential amenities such as restrooms, palapas for shade, and lifeguards to ensure safety. Chileno Beach is also renowned as one of Cabo’s premier snorkeling spots, attracting visitors who want to explore its vibrant marine life. Follow the signage to stay within designated areas safe for swimming and snorkeling.

Santa Maria Beach

Santa Maria Bay is a secluded, protected marine sanctuary, perfect for snorkeling or relaxing on the beach. It’s a popular stop for charter boats offering snorkeling and scuba diving trips from Cabo San Lucas harbor, making it a favorite among marine enthusiasts. Located about 12.5 km (7.7 mi) north of Cabo San Lucas, the beach is accessible by taxi or local bus. With limited public facilities, bring everything you need for a day at the beach.

Palmilla Beach

Located just a short drive from San Jose del Cabo, Palmilla Beach boasts a beautiful crescent-shaped shoreline that makes the trip well worth it. Though no nearby restaurants exist, it’s an ideal spot to bring a picnic and enjoy the natural surroundings. The calm waters are perfect for a refreshing swim. When you’re ready to relax, you can unwind under a palapa or rent an umbrella from local vendors, making your beach day both comfortable and enjoyable.

Cannery Beaches

Coral Negro and Balconcito beaches are tucked just beyond the marina, close to Land’s End, offering a more peaceful and less crowded alternative to other beaches in the area. With fewer vendors and the natural shade of towering boulders, these beaches provide an ideal setting for those seeking tranquility. The calm waters make them perfect for swimming, and they’re also a popular spot for snorkeling, with plenty of marine life to discover. It’s an excellent destination for relaxation and exploration alike.

Cabo Pulmo Beach

Cabo Pulmo Beach is one of the top snorkeling spots near Cabo San Lucas, renowned for its vibrant coral reefs and abundant tropical fish. Nestled within a protected national park, this beach offers a pristine and untouched environment, far from the crowds and commercial vendors. The lack of amenities adds to its unspoiled charm, immersing visitors in the area’s natural beauty. Cabo Pulmo is meticulously preserved as part of the national park, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers.

Divorce Beach

The origin of the name Divorce Beach (Playa del Divorcio) is a mystery, though locals humorously attribute it to the beach’s turbulent waters. In sharp contrast to the gentle waves of Lover’s Beach just across the sand, Divorce Beach offers a much more rugged and secluded setting. It’s an ideal spot for quiet sunbathing and relaxation, far from the lively atmosphere of Medano Beach. However, swimming here is extremely hazardous due to strong rip tides and crashing waves—unexpected rogue waves have been known to pull people out to sea.

Los Cerritos Beach

A 45-minute drive from Cabo San Lucas, Playa Los Cerritos, makes for an easy day trip. It’s one of the few swimmable beaches on Baja Sur’s west coast, as most others are known for their wild, rough waves. During the summer, the waters here are especially calm. Los Cerritos is also a favorite for surfers, with waves catering to beginners and seasoned riders. You can rent a board or take surf lessons right on the beach. When visiting the charming town of Todos Santos, we love stopping at Los Cerritos Beach to catch the vibrant surf scene—it’s always a fun experience to watch.

Playa Bledito (Tequila Cove)

Another stunning swimming beach in Los Cabos is the small cove in front of the Hilton Los Cabos, known as Playa Bledito or Tequila Cove. For a stylish and relaxing day, you can get a day pass to the Hilton’s Enclave Beach Club, one of Cabo’s finest. The beach club offers a boardwalk, comfortable beach chairs shaded by umbrellas, and a waterfront bar serving craft margaritas and delicious tapas, making it a perfect spot to unwind in luxury.

Playa Costa Azul

For an iconic surfing experience in Los Cabos, head to Playa Costa Azul on the Sea of Cortez side. Its famous Zippers reef break draws professional surfers, especially in summer. Each June, Zippers hosts the Los Cabos Open of Surf, a top-tier competition that features live music, swimsuit fashion shows, and gourmet food. For a laid-back beach bar vibe, Zipper’s Bar & Grill sits right on the sand, offering unbeatable views of the surf action and budget-friendly prices, making it the perfect spot to soak in the scene.

Playa Solmar

Playa Solmar, anchored by the Grand Solmar Land’s End and other Solmar Resorts, is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas, alongside Divorce Beach. Its postcard-worthy shoreline stretches endlessly, offering a serene escape. While it’s unsafe for swimming due to powerful currents, Playa Solmar is free from beach vendors, making it ideal for a peaceful walk on the thick golden sand. Watch for whales passing by during winter, and don’t miss the breathtaking sunsets.

Playa Hotelera

Playa Hotelera is a favorite among the beaches in San Jose del Cabo, largely due to its proximity to several resorts, including the luxurious Viceroy Los Cabos and the all-inclusive Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos. While swimming isn’t safe here due to the large, crashing waves, the beach is perfect for a peaceful stroll along the shore. The sound of the waves can be thunderous, creating a dramatic atmosphere, yet the beach remains uncrowded, making it an ideal spot for a quiet walk.

Monuments Beach

A favorite among experienced surfers, Playa Monumentos (Monuments Beach) is known for offering some of the best waves in Cabo. This small beach is also home to The Cape, a Thompson Hotel, where we enjoyed lounging on a hanging daybed from our balcony, watching surfers ride the waves. You can even glimpse Cabo’s iconic rock formation, El Arco, in the distance while on the water. However, beginner surfers should be cautious, as the beach has sea urchins, rocks, and other potential hazards near the shore.

El Ganzo Beach

Tucked in the southwest corner of the Puerto Los Cabos marina, El Ganzo Beach, also known as Puerto Los Cabos Beach, is a pristine, swimmable gem near Cabo San Lucas. While you can relax anywhere along the shore, two beach clubs—Hotel El Ganzo’s Beach Club and the new Veleros Beach Club—add extra comfort to your day. With its laid-back atmosphere and ample space to unwind without the crowds, El Ganzo Beach is a favorite spot to enjoy the serenity of Cabo.
